2 U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagles lose contact over Scotland
RAF LAKENHEATH, England– Two U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagles from RAF Lakenheath lost radio contact at approximately 5:45 this morning during a routine training mission in Northern Scotland.
The status of the pilots is currently unknown.
The aircraft departed from RAF Lakenheath at 5 a.m., each carrying one pilot. A mountain rescue team from RAF Lossiemouth is conducting search and rescue operations near the pilots’ last known location. However, adverse weather conditions in the area are hampering search efforts.
The situation remains under investigation, and the families of the involved personnel have not yet been notified. Once more information has been collected, a follow-up press release will be issued.
