Three airmen killed in C-17 crash near Fort Riley (Follow-up release)

FORT RILEY, Kan. – Air Force Col. Calvin Bogart, Lt. Col. Sheila Freeman and Senior

Airman Ryan Howard were killed when a C-17 Globemaster III from the 60th Air Mobility Wing

at Travis Air Force Base crashed near Fort Riley, Kansas, on September 18, 2024 at 10:37 a.m.

Five other airmen were treated for minor injuries.

The aircraft was en route to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst when the crash occurred.

The damages are estimated to be $32,541.63 and the area will be restored for local

agricultural use.

The incident is currently under investigation.
